Built in 1896, the original Orpington Village Hall was given to Orpington’s inhabitants by the late Alfred Brown, Esq, under the administration of a Trust to be held for the welfare of the Village.
Today, Orpington Village Hall remains a Charitable Trust (Registered Charity number 302959), striving to serve the community.
We are an independent, non-profit making organisation and the income generated from hiring out our hall space keeps our doors open.
OVH is a place for people of all backgrounds/cultures/abilities/ages and interests to meet in a welcoming and friendly environment. Through our hirers and internal fundraising events, we offer an affordable programme of diverse events and activities from birth to later in life, including support groups, health clinics, rehab, dance, fitness, art, tuition, and live theatre.
In 2019, we embarked on our dementia friendly project, including adaptations to the building and establishing our award-winning Dementia Café, which has become a popular event for local people facing the challenge of living with dementia, including carers.
To keep this running as a free service for our guests, we rely on our team of dedicated volunteers and trustees. It is currently funded by donations & ad hoc sponsorship.
